Art & Social Change

Students in Art and Social Change spent the semester exploring the ways in which artists and media images tell stories about social identity and how they, as young artists, have the power to critique and question the visual narratives that they often passively digest. For this project, students chose an image from the media representing a social issue that was important to them and then used embroidery thread to disrupt the story being told. Here, they uncover new ways of looking at stories about sexual misconduct, racial profiling, immigration, and more.
